Students: Passion 4 Hospitality (P4H) 2015 in London

Passion 4 Hospitality, the largest student and industry experts networking event created by the Institute of Hospitality is now open for free registration. On 19 March 2015, #P4H2015 will take place at a central London venue (soon to be confirmed). The following information explains all you need to know about participating in this fantastic, fun hospitality event hosted annually by the Institute.

2015 Event Agenda

1.  Hospitality Live Debating Competition

Open to teams of students who are members of the Institute of Hospitality through the Education Membership Scheme Programme (EMS).

Discuss a hot industry topic as a team competing against other national and international teams. Presentation skills, preparation, quick-thinking and a sense of humour lend themselves to a winning team!

P4H 2014 saw the Bournemouth University team win both the debate and the business game competitions, fending off student teams from IMI University Centre Switzerland, Hotelschool The Hague, University College Birmingham (UCB) and University Campus Suffolk.

Crispin Farbrother, Programme Leader for Hospitality in the School of Tourism at Bournemouth University, said: “The teams felt well prepared, but as the day went on the excitement was mixed with elements of tension as they appreciated the seriousness, competitiveness and quality of the other teams. Meeting the other team members was of value and the close finish did nothing but add to the experience of the day. Winning was fantastic for us and some of our students are already planning to return and defend their title in 2015.”

2.  Business Game Competition

Open to teams of students who are members of the Institute of Hospitality through the Education Membership Scheme Programme. Industry professionals who are individual members of the Institute are also encouraged to participate in the game and provide competition for the students.

Run a virtual hotel with HOTS Simulation System and make successful business decisions in all operational areas of your property. HOTS Simulation is a web-based business management system that challenges participants to run a large hotel with a series of online exercises including business planning, goal setting and scenario planning. Each team will manage a hotel within the virtual environment and will need to make the best strategic business decisions to win the competition.

Working in partnership with arena4 finance and HOTS, the Business Game Competition Final will take place alongside the Hospitality Live Debating Competition Final on 19 March 2015.

3.  The Hospitality Careers Forum

Open to all hospitality students and industry professionals. You don’t need to be a member of the Institute to participate in the Hospitality Careers Forum. Learn about the wealth of hospitality careers and current opportunities available to you from industry experts.

Students who are student or EMS Affiliate members of the Institute of Hospitality are entitled to priority bookings for one-to-one sessions with the experts.

Terms and Conditions

Participants for both the Hospitality Live Debating Competition and the Business Game Competition must be members of the Institute of Hospitality through the EMS scheme. The Careers Forum is open to everyone who wishes to attend.

If your educational centre is listed, simply ask for your personal student log in details at your information desk and log in on www.instituteofhospitality.org.
