The Institute of Hospitality was delighted to be an official supporter of this year’s BHA Summit on the 30th June at Accor’s Novotel London West.

The buzz surrounding this event was significant and over 700 delegates attended. Guest speakers included Boris Johnson, MP and Mayor of London; UK Tourism Minister Tracey Crouch; Nick Varney, BHA Chairman and Jonathan Worsley, CEO of Bench Events. In addition, there were many other industry movers and shakers who contributed to panels throughout the day.

A broad range of topics were covered during the presentations by industry experts and by the panels. Topics included the push for a reduction in VAT and the significant benefits this could provide to both our industry and the UK economy as a whole. Visas were another hot topic along with the living wage and attracting top quality employees and managers.

For those who weren’t able to attend on the day, the BHA has kindly made its materials available for viewing including videos and presentations:

We’re looking forward to next year’s event when we hope to see some industry issues resolved and discover whether Boris Johnson has swayed the powers-that-be to place a Harry Potter World in Britain where it belongs!
